Wentworth community unite in prayer against coronavirus
Members of the Jesus Christ Ministries International joined forces for a day of prayer against the coronavirus on Tuesday, 10 March at the Austerville Community Hall in Wentworth.
WITH the increasing number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, robbing many of their loved ones worldwide, members of the Jesus Christ Ministries International (JCMI) joined forces for a day of prayer against the coronavirus on Tuesday, 10 March at the Austerville Community Hall in Wentworth.
“As many of us know that the number of those affected by the coronavirus has increased to 17 in our country, many people are fearful and some are in a panic. To address this, I decided to gather the community and pray for our country, all those affected and remember those who lost their lives by hosting a day of prayer against the coronavirus,” said Pastor Allistair Barclay of Jesus Christ Ministries International.
Barclay partnered with Sr Renette Roskruge from Wentworth Gateway Clinic and Thabitha Community Care Services, who educated the community on the virus as well as prevention measures.
Several questions were posed regarding the growing pandemic and Roskruge shared all the necessary information and encouraged the community to visit the doctor or Gateway Clinic immediately if they experience flu-like symptoms.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has identified symptoms of the coronavirus to include a fever, cough and breathing difficulties. Severe symptoms include pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome and kidney failure. Thorough and consistent personal hygiene has been highlighted as the primary preventative measure. The WHO has recommended regular hand washing in conjunction with covering one’s mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.
The event proved an overall success and Pastor Allistair advised the community to seek information from a medical professional to avoid panic and curb the spread of false information circulating about COVID-19.
