Meet Bayview’s sportsman of the year

The Gardenia Primary School learner was introduced to sport at the age of six when he joined Bayview FC.

AT the age of 11, Wentworth’s promising soccer player, Shaye Moody is already proving himself as a force to be reckoned with on the field. Awarded Bayview FC’s sportsman of the year (2019) award, the ambitious junior player has a bright future ahead of him.

The Gardenia Primary School learner was introduced to sport when he was just six years old when he joined Bayview FC with a friend of his. Shaye has grown from strength to strength, sharpening his skills every chance he gets during training. He has played in several soccer tournaments and especially enjoys five-a-side games. In addition to being recognised as sportsman of the year, his 2019 season highlights include playing in the Durban Central Football Association (DCFA) tour and the VW Junior Masters tournament in Johannesburg.

“Soccer is my passion because I would love to be a professional soccer player when I’m older and play in international leagues and tournaments. I would like to play for Man United one day because my dad and I have always supported the team and it has always been a dream to play for them. Cristiano Ronaldo who is my favourite soccer player, also played for Man United,” he said.

The Bayview player has managed to strike a balance between soccer and his school work. He considers his parents his biggest supporters as they are always cheering him on at the sidelines at all his games, as well as his coach Earl Louis, for all the years he has spent training him. When he is not on the field, Shaye, like any other young boy, enjoys swimming and playing games on his Xbox.
