Bluff Covid-19 relief programme launched to assist families
The Vulnerable Groups Ward Committee chairperson, Zoe Solomon and Ward 66 Councillor, JP Prinsloo have launched a programme to try and assist the Bluff's most vulnerable community members.
THE Covid-19 lockdown has left many families on the Bluff in a position where they have no food at home. The Vulnerable Groups Ward Committee chairperson, Zoe Solomon and Ward 66 Councillor, JP Prinsloo have launched a programme to try and assist the Bluff’s most vulnerable community members.
“I have created this campaign on behalf of the indigent residents of the Bluff. The community is desperate for food relief during this lockdown period. We require a donation of R350 to sponsor a family for a week. We are currently feeding an excess of 300 families per day with one meal sponsored by an NGO. Reaching our target will mean relief of food insecurity,” said Solomon. Funds raised will be used to purchase groceries,” said Solomon.
“We aim to assist 200 families with 200 food parcels (this is 800 people a week). A donation of R350 will help feed one family of four for a week. Our goal is R70 000 to reach all these families. We have had no assistance from government or eThekwini Municipality,” said Prinsloo.
Cash donations are preferred. Donors and companies can enjoy tax benefits for any financial contributions made to the initiative.
