Embracing a digital way of caring for wildlife

Crow's #25FoodDrive calls for the greater public to donate R25 towards a meal for an animal.

THE Centre for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (Crow) continues in its efforts to ensure wildlife is cared for amid the novel Covid-19 lockdown. The centre’s latest initiative is the #25FoodDrive, which calls for the greater public to donate R25 towards a meal for an animal.

“It costs just R25 to help feed one animal a day. This will help go a long way during this trying time and with the increased number of animals coming through our gates since the beginning of the lockdown,” said Crow communications officer, Alex Kogl.

Crow has admitted a lot of vervet monkeys and birds in the past few weeks. The demand to help feed these voiceless animals in need is great and Crow needs the community’s help now more than ever. “Keeping our doors open during the lockdown is must, but it has been tough. We’re hoping that through this food drive people will embrace this digital way of giving to keep us going and literally help putt food in wildlifes’ mouth without having to leave their homes,” added Alex.

Crow is also in need of donations of detergents and household cleaning equipment, soap, toilet paper, sanitiser, scissors, long life milk, baby formula and dry cat food.

Payments can be made through Zapper, Pay Pal (PAYPAL.ME/CROWKZN) or to Crow’s banking details: FNB, Business Account, 50770230859, Durban Main Branch, 221426.
