DSW Collingwood Depot closed
DSW has officially closed the Collingwood Depo on the Bluff, due to multiple positive Covid-19 cases among staff as of Friday, 15 May.
DURBAN Solid Waste (DSW) has officially closed the Collingwood Depot on the Bluff, due to multiple positive Covid-19 cases among staff as of Friday 15 May.
This is according to ward 66 councillor JP Prinsloo. The depo had initially temporarily suspended operations on Friday, 8 May after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19. This was confirmed by eThekwini Municipality spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela.
The depot services the following the Bluff, Yellowwoood Park, Bellair, Mayville, Chatsworth, Jacobs, Clairwood, Merebank, Merewent and Austerville areas. “DSW staff from neighbouring depo’s will have to be utilised to remove refuse from the area covered by the Collingwood Depot. Refuse collection will now only be collected after 12.30pm daily. This schedule started on Monday, 18 May,” said Prinsloo.
Residents are requested to:
-Minimise household refuse as much as possible.
-Remove any uncollected refuse bags from the outside of your property. (DSW will not be able to collect these bags until next week).
-Keep your area clean and sanitary. Do not leave any refuse bags outside of your property.
-Put your bags out on your normal collection day after 12:30pm.
“This is a very difficult time for our community and our country. Setbacks like these during a global pandemic was inevitable. Let’s work together and ensure that our communities are kept clean,” said Prinsloo.
