Proactive initiative beats winter blues for Brighton Beach police
Staff had a presentation and were given an educational brochure and pocket tissue each.
CATCH it. Bin it. Kill it, was the theme of the health and wellness initiative conducted for members of the Brighton Beach police station recently.
The programme, researched and presented by Captain Louise le Roux, was a proactive response for the staff to be empowered to identify flu and bronchitis symptoms, treatment and preventative measures as the winter season approaches.
They were also given an educational brochure and pocket tissue each.
“The brochure contains information to questions such as what the flu is, the difference between a cold and flu, how stomach flu and influenza are different, how flu is spread, the different types of flu viruses and what bronchitis and symptoms of bronchitis are.”
“The tissue pocket distributed enable staff who may show flu symptoms to have a clean tissue on hand which they can dispose of after use, instead of re-using, as the flu germ remains for hours after use,” said Le Roux.
She added that with this outreach initiative, the organisation invested in the human capital by creating safer workspaces, showcasing its care for its staff’s well-being while fighting winter ailments.
A total of 95 employees at the station benefited from the initiative.
