#YouthMonth: Development agency opens nominations for young trailblazers

The campaign aims to showcase, celebrate and profile ordinary young people who are doing extraordinary work.

IF you know a young and inspiring member of the community, be sure to take note of the following information.

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) is calling for young people who share in their vision to make a difference in their communities to be nominated for its youth month trailblazers campaign.

This month South Africa commemorates 44 years since the 16 June 1976 uprising. The campaign aims to showcase, celebrate and profile ordinary young people who are doing extraordinary work.

“This is an exciting venture and it is in line with the theme, youth power growing South Africa together even in the period of Covid-19, to celebrate young people who are making a difference in their communities.”

“The aim is to appreciate and showcase the work done by the youth during these trying times. Trailblazers are pioneers, innovators and lifelong learners who will help create a better world,” said Waseem Carrim, NYDA CEO.

Participation is based on those who continually rise above their challenges to succeed in areas including, academic entrepreneurial, science, technology and innovation and leadership development and design thinking.

The nomination form is available on www.nyda.gov.za and must be accompanied by contact details, a profile and evidence of work in the form of pictures done by the nominated young person.

Nominations can be sent to trailblazers@nyda.gov.za.
