Suspects ransack elderly woman’s Yellowwood Park home

The grandson broke a window in an effort to warn his grandmother of the intruders and the imminent danger as the suspects began ransacking the house.

AN unsuspecting elderly woman and her grandson were the victims of a house breaking on Wednesday afternoon, 17 June at their Yellowood Park home.

Blue Security control centre despatched their armed response officers, and alerted the police.  “The incident occurred when three suspects jumped over the wall of the property, making their way to the front door, surprising the elderly homeowner and her grandson who were at home at the time,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.

“The grandson broke a window in an effort to warn his grandmother of the intruders and the imminent danger as the suspects began ransacking the house. Getting away with only a laptop, the gang rushed to their getaway vehicle. One of the suspects dropped the laptop’s power chord while exiting the property. He also fired a shot in the direction of the house,” Mathios said.

First responders were on the scene within minutes but unfortunately the suspects managed to evade arrest and disappeared in an unknown direction. SAPS members and Blue Security remained at the scene for the duration of the investigation. A case of armed robbery is under investigation.
