The cleaning was even more rigorous and includes sanitising all till points after each transaction and sanitising trolleys frequently.
PICK n Pay on the Bluff store has safely re-opened.
This follows the store’s temporary closure after a support staff member tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday evening, 30 June. The affected staff member was briefly in the store last Friday, 26 June and did not engage with customers.
“The entire store was deep cleaned and sanitised by a specialist cleaning company and we liaised with health authorities prior to re-opening the store on Thursday, 2 July.”
“All staff members who were in close contact with the support staff member were sent home to self-quarantine for the requisite period. All store staff who were not in close contact with the support staff member were screened by health practitioners as a precaution,” read a statement by Pick n Pay adding that the health and safety of its customers and staff is a top priority.
“We are cleaning our stores even more rigorously, including sanitising all till points after each transaction, and sanitising our trolleys frequently. Our stores have various preventative measures, including Perspex screens at all till points and all staff have face masks.”
“Our staff follow strict hygiene rules and practices, including regular handwashing, and hand sanitiser is readily available for all staff and customers in stores. All stores have clear distancing policies which includes floor markers and asking customers to queue and shop with a trolley so that safe physical distancing can be maintained at all times. Our staff are screened for symptoms before they start work.”
