Donations to feeding scheme fills hunger gap
In addition to the food drives, Wentworth Angels now assist in cleaning up the community.
THE news of a donation of the third set of grocery hampers could not have arrived at a better time for the Wentworth Angels.
The call was received on Thursday morning, 25 June to an elated Tracey Williams, who was occupied with supervising the newly started clean-up campaign.
“Exact by the call as I had started a clean-up campaign in the community and had just told the people they would be greatly rewarded.”
“Various pensioners on my database, families in dire need and all those who embarked on the clean-up received a beautiful food hamper valued at over R800 to take home to their families,” said Tracey who added that people were geared up and ready to assist with clean-ups outside of their roads.”
“Our streets are cleaner and the community is happy we have given them a chance to be apart of this clean-up. It makes them feel good to work to put a meal on their table.”
Member of the organisation, Fats Muller, commended Tracey for her “good idea” and said, “It helps to teach people that cleanliness is next to godliness.
“I am proud to be working with such an amazing woman who puts her heart into everything she does. She continues to feed even with the challenges she faces.”
The clean-up was made possible by the support given by small businesses that assisted “here and there”.
“We require tools like rakes, spades, disinfectant fluid, and dirtbags. Our daily hot meal drive is still provided and we still need sponsors to assist with groceries.”
“It is a pleasure working with the Wentworth Angels as there is a lot of honesty, transparency, and accountability I learn each day working with them,” said Fats, who also thanked their sponsors and Refco for the porridge, cocoa and giblets provided to the feeding scheme.
