Montclair crime round-up
Captain Derek Vijiam, spokesperson for Montclair SAPS, provides the latest briefs of crime in the area ranging from Tuesday, 30 June to Wednesday, 1 July.
A MAN walking on South Coast Road, Clairwood, was approached and threatened by two unknown men. According to Captain Derek Vijiam, the incident happened on Wednesday, 1 July at approximately 6.50am.
“Both assailants initially threatened him with physical violence and thereafter assaulted him. They both produced knives and threatened to stab him. Both attackers searched him and removed his cell phone and cash from him,” said Captain Vijiam.
Robbery
A security officer on South Coast Road was performing his duties when he was accosted by three men on Wednesday, 1 July at 12.10am.
“One of them produced a firearm and pointed it at him. The collaborators tied his hands together and searched his pockets and removed his cash.”
“Thereafter they took a pair of scissors and prized open the warehouse door. Suddenly they ran out to an awaiting car which was parked outside the company premises. The victim cut the cable ties with his teeth to release himself. He was not injured. The suspects left without taking anything,” said Captain Vijiam.
Carjacking
A man was alone in his car at the traffic lights at the corner of South Coast Road and Higginson Highway on Tuesday, 30 June at 4.30pm when he was confronted by two unknown men who produced a firearm and got into his vehicle.
“The suspects physically forced the victim out of the driver’s seat. They tied him with cable ties and bundled him onto the rear seat of his vehicle. They drove off in a westerly direction. They dropped them off at Savannah Park. The disorientated victim then proceeded to the police station where he was assisted,” said Captain Vijiam.
