Wentworth Angels tackle community clean-up campaign
Founder, Tracey Williams, said after numerous calls to the Parks and Recreation Department, she took it upon herself to round up her team and residents starting coming out in their numbers to assist with the clean-up.
IN ADDITION to successfully maintaining its meal drive initiative during the lockdown, now in excess of over 100 days, the Wentworth Angels are going steady with their clean-up community campaign.
The organisation’s founder, Tracey Williams, said she took it upon herself to round up her team and residents starting coming out in their numbers to assist with the clean-up.
“Our community is feeling very despondent by the leaders, we needed to do it ourselves because the municipality has let us down. The initiative formed when I found out the pandemic had become deadly in our community, I felt that it was the right thing to do. Putting our hands to the plow motivated the people to assist with the cleaning,” she said.
She reiterated that the meal drives will still continue to provide warm meals to the community in addition to the new task they’ve now taken on.
“We need equipment like rakes, shovels and weed eaters. We also want to make tables and chairs out of wood. We encourage hardware stores to come to our aid as the majority of the business they receive is from ward 68,” said Tracey.
She added that the feeding scheme requires assistance with rice, oil, jeera seeds, mustard or just about anything that will keep their kitchen operational.
