Clean park receives a happy thumbs-up
Rate Payers' Association chairman, Ivor Aylward, was pleased with the municipality's swift response to his complaint.
THE Bluff Rate Payers’ Association was pleased to see a quick turn-around time by the municipality following a complaint it lodged about an unkempt park in the area.
The association’s chairperson, Ivor Aylward, said it was important to highlight the positive outcome as it assists in their plight in a clean and well maintained neighbourhood.
He said he took it upon himself to name and shame the municipality on a video he took for an unmaintained Dunville Park on the corner of Dunville and Shamrock roads, calling it a disgrace and an eye sore.
The footage showed a littered park, contrary to the rules of the park stipulated on a signage board erected by the municipality.
“The video was taken on Tuesday, 25 August, and I was pleasantly surprised to see how clean it was the next day. I really appreciate the municipality’s swift response to my complaint. We can now see something that looks very nice and it already uplifts the area because when you see something shoddy, everything starts deteriorating,” he said.
He likened the untidiness to the window syndrome, where it starts with one broken window that eventually leads a house in shambles.
“I am so happy and I want to thank the parks and recreation department responsible for the clean-up. The park now looks brilliant, little ones can play safely and parents can be happy. “Let’s be positive and hope it’ll stay like this. The bins are also clean and I understand that they are emptied on collection day,” he added.
