Merebank housebreaking suspect nabbed
The housbreaking incident took place at Junagarth Road on Wednesday, 16 September at about 1:45pm.
A MAN was arrested on charges housebreaking and theft in Merebank recently.

Wentworth police officers, Warrant Officer Alvin Nair and Constable Natasha Mei together with Dhevan Govindasamy of PT Alarms Tactical unit arrested a man for housebreaking and theft at Merebank taxi rank on Friday morning, 18 September. The housbreaking incident took place at Junagarth Road on Wednesday, 16 September at about 1:45pm. Govindasamy alerted the police when he spotted the suspect aged 38 at the taxi rank.

“The suspect was arrested and confessed that he went into a premises on the road and stole a brand new TV. He said he sold it for R350 on Barrackpur Road. He was then detained and charged for house breaking and theft,” said Wentworth police spokesperson, Captain Mbuso Gumede.
Gumede urged the public to refrain from purchasing or accepting suspected stolen items. Wentworth SAPS station commander, Colonel Van Zyl commended Nair, Mei and Govindsamy for their united front in successfully securing the arrest.
