Cable thief arrested in Merebank

Residents are urged to report suspicious activities swiftly so investigations and searches can be conducted promptly.

MEMBERS of the PT Tactical unit nabbed an alleged notorious cable thief in the Merebank Ridge area on Monday, 28 September.

The man, known as KK, was found roaming the area and was apprehended after he was spotted interfering with cables on Gadwal Road.

The company’s spokesperson, Dhevan Govindasamy, said a complaint was received on their clients’ WhatsApp group and the patrolling units responded to investigate.

“The area was searched and the suspect was netted by PT Tactical officers. He was handed over to Wentworth SAPS and a case was opened. The suspect will be profiled to determine if he is linked to other crimes committed in the area. Well done to the vigilant resident and PT Alarms Tactical members on the quick apprehension of the suspect,” he said.

Govindasamy added that cable theft is a huge concern in South Africa with severe consequences for members of the public and businesses.
