Friday, 23 October: The annual Nozincwadi Storytelling Festival is hosting Art in the Park under the Storytelling Tree at the Bluff Showgrounds, Tara Road from 10am. There will be display stations be set up and is open to the public. Guests will be indulged in art and crafts which include fine artists, beadwork, chefs, and many other delights. Entry is free of charge. Remember, no mask, no entry.
The displays will be accompanied by music and storytellers with performances from MaBhengu, Balungile Myeza, Zanele Ndlovu, Mpume Mthombeni, Nompucuko Zakaza, Gomolemo Moagi, Philippa Namutebi Kabali Kagwa, Bongiswa Kotta Ramushwana and Dr Mhlophe.
Saturday, 24 October: The Association for the Aged (Tafta) will host its old school drive-in movie night fundraising event at Harlequins Sports Bar at 6pm. Food and Drinks can be purchased directly from Harlequins, and Tafta will be selling popcorn, however, you are welcome to bring your own food and snacks. No alcohol will be allowed onto the premises but can be bought directly from Harlequins.
Early Bird tickets can be purchased via EFT for just R200 per car. Tickets will be emailed after payment is made to: Tafta, First National Bank, Acc no. 6257 2084 285, Branch code: 221426, Reference: MOVIE + Your name. Send Proof of payment to idpr@tafta.org.za to get your ticket. Tickets can also be bought at the gate for just R220 per car.

Saturday, 24 October: The annual Nozincwadi Storytelling Festival ends its week-long festivities with the National Storytelling Day which was officially inaugurated on 24 October 2019. It will for the first time be included as part of the Nozincwadi Festival. The day coincides with the founder, Dr Mhlophe’s birthday. The day will be marked by morning and evening events.
The morning event will kick off at 10.30am opening with drummers and MaBhengu playing indigenous music. At 11am the storytelling will begin and as has happened last year, numerous arts groups, schools and libraries across the country will join in the magic.
The festival will conclude with an evening event that will be live-streamed on Gcinamasiko’s Facebook page and YouTube channel for the public. The event will take place at the Durban Art Gallery and it is strictly by invitation only.
Updates on the specific events can be found on the Gcinamasiko Arts & Heritage Trust social media pages as well as view the international storyteller’s film and follow the live stream of the National Storytelling Day live performances from 7.30pm.
Friday, 30 October: Fynnlands Sports Club will host a Fun House Halloween day on from 4pm. Calamity Jam will play live, drinks specials and Halloween Food on sale. Prizes will be awarded for best-dressed male and female. Entrance is free.
