Bluff ward contest hots up
Jason Scott-Johnson has been selected as the Freedom Front Plus ward councillor candidate.
THE contest for the vacant Bluff ward 66 has gone up a notch with the announcement that Jason Scott-Johnson has been selected as the Freedom Front Plus (FFP) ward councillor candidate.
Schooled on the Bluff at what was Dirkie Uys Hoer, Jason is married to Odette. They have two children and have been Bluff residents for decades. Prior to the lockdown, Jason attended meetings of the CPF and Bluff Ratepayers’ Association.
His interest and concern for the welfare of the Bluff is also evident from his social media contributions. Prominent in his manifesto is his adherence to the FFP policy of merit in determining the allocation of posts, promotions and procurements as well as the principles of transparency and accountability. In particular for the Bluff, Jason hopes to lobby for a civic centre which can house the clinic, the library and a municipal services office.
He is anxious to restart the stalled Bluff beaches project and to be proactive in deterring the erosion of property values brought about by anti-social activities. If elected, Jason shared that he intends to be available personally in addressing ratepayers’ queries and concerns.
“I believe that effective service as a ward councillor is purely about personal application and endeavour. The size of one’s party is irrelevant.”
His candidacy has been endorsed by former ward councillor Duncan Du Bois, Bluff Ratepayers’ chairman Ivor Aylward and Bluff activist Andy Rossell.
