Wentworth police urge public to keep safe this festive
Members distributed information pamphlets with safety tips on various topics including dangers to look out for over the festive season, gender based violence, child safety as well as firearm amnesty.
WITH the festive fast approaching, Wentworth police Social Crime Prevention members conducted community safety awareness at Merebank Natraj Centre. Members distributed information pamphlets with safety tips on various topics including dangers to look out for over the festive season, gender based violence, child safety as well as firearm amnesty.
The members also conducted a vehicle check point in the area and sensitised motorists on safety aspects on the road. The police in Wentworth urged drivers to drive carefully and ensure that they put safety first and buckle up when travelling to different destinations. Wentworth police communications officer, Captain Mbuso Gumede said the campaign was well received by the motorists and the community.
“The police will be patrolling business areas and we are appealing to the community to be the eyes and ears of the police. Report suspicious vehicles driving in your area or persons walking on the road aimlessly. Stop and searches will be conducted in order to minimise the crime of robberies, carjackings and house robberies.”
