Police warn public on festivities

Roadblocks, stop and searches are on-going throughout the province.

THE KZN SAPS has advised members of the public to be cautious during this festive season.

Police officers in the province will be out in full force to enforce law and order. Roadblocks, stop and searches are on-going throughout the province.

“We know many people are looking forward to celebrating the festive season but it is also the time for the community to look after itself during this pandemic period.”

“Those found to contravene the regulations of the Disaster Management Act will face the full might of the law. During the operations and as part of enforcing compliance with the Liquor Act, drinking in public will be prohibited. We appeal to community members to consider staying at home during this festive season,” said provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

She also reiterated that the beaches will be closed on 25, 26, and 31 December as well as 1, 2, and 3 January 2021.

“No one will be allowed at the beach on the stipulated days. During the open days, beaches will operate from 9am to 6pm. A limited number of people will be allowed to the beach on the days not stipulated,” she added.
