WSS class of 2020 honoured
Wentworth Secondary School’s (WSS) Class of 2020 closed the chapter of their high school career in a special thanksgiving ceremony on Friday, 11 December.
IT was a joyous occasion when Wentworth Secondary School’s (WSS) Class of 2020 closed the chapter of their high school career in a special thanksgiving ceremony on Friday, 11 December.
“We wanted to celebrate and acknowledge our learners for the academic achievements in what has been quite a difficult year for them. It wasn’t easy being at school during a pandemic but the learners were here from June everyday, in full attendance, doing their best.
“Schools generally have awards ceremonies, but for us it was an important thanksgiving ceremony to appreciate how our matrics, who against all odds and the conditions that they worked under, have achieved some excellent results, especially in gateway subjects as well as their core subjects. We want them to leave knowing that they are worthy and have achieved greatness within their schooling career. Although we’re not sure what the NSC results will be, I don’t want them to measure themselves or their academic worth to that result. We want the learners to see what we see in them as staff and go off with assurance of their potential,” said Wentworth Secondary School principal, Laurel Cook.
