Trucks cause mayhem on Bluff Road [LETTER]

A few people have been knocked down and killed and there have been a good few accidents too all because of racing along Bluff Road.

EDITOR – On Friday, 26 March, Bluff Road was closed off due to two heavy vehicles that jackknifed. This is another wake up call that all heavy vehicles are supposed to use the alternative route via Tara Road.

Was Elaine Thompson’s life taken by a container truck not enough back in 2009?

Are we going to sit and wait until it’s too late for more lives to be lost on the most dangerous Bluff Road?

Bluff Road is a race track, cars go speeding down the road past Super Spar as if they were on Kayalami all trying to be Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet, Sterling Moss and Michael Schumacher. A few people have been knocked down and killed and there have been a good few accidents too all because of racing along Bluff Road.

I hope this incident on Friday at 5pm serves as a wake up call.

Pedestrians do not have the right of way due to all the screening of trenches on the Bluff, people have to walk in the road as the side walks and pavements have been dug up.

Are we really going to wait for pedestrians to get killed before they cover the trenches?

Are we going to wait until it’s to late before any action is taken?
