BAYVIEW Sports Club u15A took on Delight Academy u15A in a heated home game on Sunday, 13 June. The game was a league match as part of the Durban Central Local Football Association.
“Delight Academy only pitched up with 10 players and with no coach. The official referee was also a no show so we had to use a referee from outside. But the Delight boys showed a lot of passion and responsibility before the game. However, Bayview players took the game very lightly resulting in the team being quite complacent,” said Bayview FC coach, Mario Labuschagne.

“Then the game plan went out the window in the first half. There were a few hectic tackles and the referee lost control of the game. I think he was a bit overwhelmed, however, the assistant coach took control of the game made four remarkable substitutes bringing on Callan Goliath, Caleb Haupt, Lungelo Ngwane and Caina Zalisa, who made a very big impact and changed the dynamics of the game as well as the others players’ mindsets. Bayview Sports Club has a very good batch of players that have the potential to become professional footballers in the future but discipline is key,” added Labuschagne.

Bayview players who stood out in the game was the goalkeeper Lukas Friedrich, who made three tremendous saves, as well as the central defender Shae de Bruine and sweeper Kealyn Smith. The game ended with a score of 5-0 in favour of Bayview FC. Bayview remains undefeated in the league.

The club has an upcoming soccer Johannesburg tour planned for the boys during the September school holidays. Bayview FC appeals to all local companies and the greater public to assist with sponsorships in making this a reality.
