THREE suspects believed to be car thieves were searched and arrested on the Bluff on Thursday, October 14 at about 07:30.
ET Rapid Response received information via the Bluff CPF about a Toyota Hilux that was spotted in the area. According to the security company, the van was sought after by the Saps’ Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit.
In conjunction with the Bluff CPF, Brighton Beach Saps and the Metro Police’s Street Crime Unit and South Crime Prevention, the trio was arrested.
“Members from our ET Rapid Response TRT managed to locate the vehicle with three occupants along Foreshore Drive and requested Saps and the Metro Police’s assistance. Once police members arrived, the occupants and vehicle were searched.”
“They found an illegal handheld radio, fully programmed with SAPS channels, car breaking implements, a second set of license plates not matching the vehicle. Objects used for the theft of motor vehicles such as various computer boxes, ignitions, ignition keys and OBD readers were also found,” said company spokesperson, Tony Lokker.
The items were seized for further investigative purposes and the three were arrested.
