Montclair police make successful arrests
Three wanted suspects were caught and arrested by detectives.
House Robbery
A WOMAN on Haycock Road, Montclair was alone in her house when she was accosted by four unknown men on Sunday, October 10 at about 10:30. According to the spokesperson for Montclair Police, Captain Derek Vijiam, the men entered the house by forcefully breaking the door.
“The suspects used a screwdriver and a sharp object to threaten the victim. They demanded cellphones and other equipment. They pushed the frightened victim into the bedroom. Once inside she locked herself in. The suspects removed all electronic equipment and loaded the stolen items into their getaway vehicle, a silver-grey Ford Eco Sport with an unknown registration and drove off into an unknown direction,” he said.
House Robbery
A WOMAN was held at gunpoint by three unknown men at her house on Weaver Road, Yellowwood Park on Friday, October 8 at about 10:00. While alone inside, the men pounced and pointed the firearms at her, demanding cellphones, cash and the keys to the safe.
“The suspects were busy with the victim when one of the members of the house arrived and surprised them. They pointed the firearm at him and made him lie down. They proceeded to remove cash, laptops and cellphones. Thereafter they fled the scene in a white bakkie with unknown
registration,” said Vijiam.
Suspects Arrested
SAPS Montclair detectives went out on a suspect raid on Friday, October 8 during the evening going into the night and arrested three wanted suspects.
Chipo Chiyangwa was arrested for theft. According to Vijiam, the accused went to a residence on King Fisher Avenue in Yellowwood Park and forcefully removed clothing and electronic equipment to the value of R50 000.
“He has been on the run ever since, however, Montclair detectives teamed up and arrested him on Sunday, October 8. He was charged and appeared in Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 11,” he said.
Douglas Thulani Masikane was wanted for drunken driving. “He was originally arrested for drunken driving in December 2019, released and was rearrested on Friday, October 8 by Montclair police. Detectives, charged and appeared in Wentworth Court Monday, October 11,” said Vijiam.
Mjabuliseni Sphesihle Dladla was wanted for theft and property suspected to be stolen. He was originally arrested by Prasa officials in December 2017 for property suspected to be stolen.
“He was in possession of five metres of thick Telkom black cable. He was also wanted on another theft charge of 500 meters of cable. Valued around R500 000 from Telkom. Both cases occurred in November 2017. He was rearrested on a warrant of arrest on Friday, October 8 and appeared at the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court,” he said.
