Man dies in Jacobs blaze
The Ethekwini Fire Department was still on scene and fighting the blaze this morning. The fire can be seen as far away as Glenwood.
ONE person died in a fire on Horseshoe Road in Jacobs just after 3am this morning (Sunday, October 31).
According to ALS Paramedics Medical Services, EMRS and the Ethekwini Fire Department were already on scene and fighting the blaze.
“One person, believed to be an adult male, has been confirmed deceased and it is unknown at this stage if there are any other fatalities,” said ALS Paramedics.
At 06:00, the Ethekwini Fire Department were still on scene and fighting the blaze, that could be seen as far away as Glenwood.
Those within the 500metres radius were evacuated.
The City advised residents to consider remaining indoors if smoke is heavy, especially if they suffer from a respiratory illness, such as asthma, or conditions that lead to increased risk from smoke exposure.
Reports indicate that a petrol tanker caught fire and it spread to the fuel lines. SAPS will be investigating.
