Mowat Park aims to bounce back with a bang

Although disappointed with this year's pass rate, the school's acting principal is determined that there'll be a big come back next year.

MOWAT Park High School’s pass rate of 77.5% this year, is considered the lowest the school has ever received.

The school’s acting principal, Amanda Ngidi, said although they were disappointed, this served as a wake-up call for them and are determined to change this narrative next year.

Former head girl at the school, Simangele Biyela.

“This has been our lowest pass rate to date. However, the way I see it is we needed to be shaken for us to reflect, press on and go back to where Mowat Park should be. There are no excuses because teachers were there all the time, the learners who were committed were there with them and the results show.

Wandile Makhanya and Luyanda Tembe.

“Those who were not committed, their results show as well. In as much as we’re disappointed, we’re taking it in a positive way. We are changing the strategy because this pass rate is not reflective of us as a school, we have to push and work hard. We had a motivational talk with the current matric learners to make sure that the soil is fertile when the teachers come in to teach them.

“From that talk, I could tell that the mindsets of our girls are where they should be. We’re taking in this year’s results positively so, we do not want to go back there again. Next year we will come back with a bang,” she said.
