Wentworth man nabbed during drug bust
Various types of drugs, including mandrax, heroine capsules, illicit cigarettes, dagga, a prescription drug called xanax, as well as cocaine powder and an undisclosed amount of cash in notes were seized by police.
A 37-year-old Wentworth man was arrested at his flat recently, after he was found with drugs to the value of R60 000.
According to communications officer of the Wentworth SAPS, Captain Mbuso Gumede, members of Wentworth SAPS Vispol Unit, led by Captain Lynton Houston, Metro police officers, led by Captain Gregory Beavon and members of the Organised Crime Unit conducted the operation in the Wentworth flats area.

“The officers then proceeded to one of the flats and introduced themselves to the flat owner, who is known by the police. The search was granted by the owner and upon searching, police found a large consignment of various drugs (narcotics) wrapped in plastic packets and inside boxes,” said Gumede.
Various types of drugs, including mandrax, heroine capsules (blue and white in colour), three boxes of illicit cigarettes, dagga wrapped in small plastic parcels, a prescription drug called xanax, as well as cocaine powder and an undisclosed amount of cash in notes were seized by police.

The accused was arrested and charged for possession of drugs, dealing in narcotics and contravention of medication act. He is due to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court.
The members who effected the arrests were commended by Wentworth SAPS station commander, Colonel Sinayo Mtshali, for recovery of the drugs.
“Drugs are dangerous and destroying our youth and community. The police will continue with the duties to arrest the drug peddlers in the Wentworth area,” said Mtshali.
