Help destitute elderly residents and families in need of support

Wentworth Angels need the support of the community to continue helping those who are in dire straits.

HUMANITARIAN organisation Wentworth Angels encourages donors to open their hearts and get involved in helping families in dire straits after an increase in the demand for assistance.

An overwhelming appeal from residents for groceries, diapers for elderly residents, as well as employment opportunities, has inundated the organisation, and its founder, Tracy Williams, has begun garnering support for families.

“More people are coming to us for assistance, and we are trying our best to assist where we can. We encourage people who have businesses to assist more women with jobs as they are struggling to put a meal on the table.

“Scores of women have no source of income and would benefit from working, and there are companies in our area that can assist with providing jobs for women from the community.

“Elderly residents have been struggling to cope with paying for diapers – which are not supplied for free to them – as they survive on just their social grants. We have been assisting with providing diapers, but we have run out. Any assistance for struggling families and the elderly will be welcomed,” Williams said.

She thanked the sponsors who have donated bread, beans, dhal and the ingredients needed to make sandwiches for schoolchildren, as well as an organisation called Jasons Angels for donating formula for infants.

Wentworth Angels also benefit from the support of SA Harvest, which provides vegetables to assist with meals.
