In an emergency – press your panic alarm button

Residents are urged to use panic buttons in case of an emergency due their simplicity and reliability.

WHEN chaos strikes and every second counts, the ability to summon help swiftly can mean the difference between safety and peril. In the realm of emergency response, simplicity is paramount. This belief lies at the core of Fidelity ADT’s advocacy for the utilisation of panic alarm systems in times of crisis.

Charnel Hattingh, group head of communications and marketing at Fidelity ADT, emphasises the critical role of panic alarms in emergency situations.

“Your first act in an emergency should be to press the panic alarm,” she said, underlining the immediacy and effectiveness of this response method.

While alternative channels for seeking assistance exist, Hattingh underscores the unparalleled swiftness of response facilitated by panic buttons.

“I am not saying WhatsApp groups or social media platforms don’t serve a purpose,” she acknowledges. “The point is that you need a channel that is constantly active and monitored.”

Unlike sporadically monitored platforms, panic alarms ensure a direct line to trained responders, guaranteeing rapid deployment of assistance.

Amid the array of security measures available, Hattingh advocates for individuals to familiarise themselves with their security company’s panic alarm services and to conduct regular tests. “They can offer a very important element of peace of mind,” she reassures.

In a world fraught with uncertainties, the simplicity and reliability of panic alarm systems stand as a beacon of reassurance, empowering individuals to confront emergencies with confidence and agility.
