Bluff Assist collects blankets for winter warmth drive

The cold winter weather leaves many people vulnerable without the necessary access to warm clothing or blankets.

IN a heartwarming effort to extend warmth and support to those in need, Bluff Assist, a local non-profit organisation, has launched its Winter Blanket Drive.

Monica Pelser, secretary of Bluff Assist, shared the drive’s purpose, highlighting its focus on collecting blankets and warm clothing for the vulnerable community members on The Bluff.

Pelser conveyed the mission behind the initiative, expressing, “We aim to gather blankets and warm clothes for members of our community who may be struggling to access them. It’s about offering comfort and solidarity during the chilly winter season.”

She stressed the significance of community solidarity, stating, “It’s not just about giving; it’s about wanting to give. Our goal is to uplift our community. We may not always understand the circumstances that led someone to vulnerability, but we can make a difference in their lives.”

The Winter Blanket Drive is scheduled to continue until the end of May. Pelser encouraged donations of new or gently used blankets, along with warm socks, jerseys and coats. “Drop off any donations at our collection point at 42 Bayview Road or at the DJ stand at the Harlequins Market,” Pelser added.
