Merewest Community Foundation announces Father’s Day fundraiser

The Merewest Community Foundation's initiatives also extend to environmental conservation, career fairs, educational programmes and support services for vulnerable demographics.

THE Merewest Community Foundation (MCF) is excited to unveil its latest initiative to further its commitment to uplift the Merebank community.

Under the guidance of Premilla Deonath, the foundation’s chairperson, tickets for the upcoming Father’s Day Barnyard Theatre show are now available for purchase. Proceeds from ticket sales will be directed towards financing a range of community projects.

Deonath enthusiastically shared details about the event, which will feature the popular Super Troopers show, showcasing the music of the Bee Gees, Billy Joel and Abba. Additionally, there will be numerous prizes up for grabs for ticket holders. Deonath also highlighted the option for individuals to make donations, especially encouraging sponsorship for pensioners, a gesture that would be greatly valued.

Since its inception just over four years ago, MCF has operated as a non-profit organisation dedicated to serving the Merebank community. Run entirely by volunteers, the foundation has earned the trust of the community through its dedicated efforts.

Deonath reiterated the foundation’s vision, which encompasses reducing crime, tackling unemployment, addressing social issues, improving healthcare for the elderly and other vulnerable groups, combating women and child abuse, and eradicating poverty.

MCF has a proven track record of impactful initiatives, including the development of an emergency evacuation manual to bolster community safety. Deonath highlighted their successful crime awareness campaigns, which have seen the distribution of over 1 000 flyers and booklets containing essential emergency contact information.

Looking to the future, MCF is actively fundraising for projects aimed at beautifying the entrance of Merebank, installing security measures in households and enhancing emergency evacuation protocols.

Deonath extended a warm invitation to volunteers and donors to join them in their mission to improve lives and foster unity within the community. She emphasised that the foundation operates with the singular goal of creating a safer and more prosperous environment for all residents.
