Armed gang robs devotees at Merebank temple
Spokesperson for PT Alarms Dhevan Govindasamy said the armed suspects intruded into a temple, and demanded cellphones and cash.
FIVE armed suspects held up devotees at a temple in Merebank on Saturday night (August 15).
The incident happened while the devotees were praying at the temple.
According to the spokesperson for PT Alarms, Dhevan Govindasamy, the suspects entered the temple and demanded cellphones and jewellery from the devotees.

“The suspects traveling in a white Hyundai i20 made a getaway via M4 north. They took cellphones and jewellery from the members of the church.
“Our tactical unit and armed response teams were alerted about a robbery at the temple. The teams were dispatched at the scene and they were later joined by Wentworth police officers,” said Govindasamy.
At the time of publishing, the suspects were still at large. Govindasamy said Wentworth police are investigating the matter.
