Allison Andrews, the founder of Mediskills Healthcare Academy, addressed the graduates and attendees, expressing her immense pride and joy. She emphasised that the graduation ceremony marked a momentous occasion. The caregivers set out on a six-month journey to complete a home-based care worker course offered by Mediskills Healthcare Academy.

“This ceremony represents the culmination of six months of hard work, community outreach programmes and service at various locations, including Cheshire Homes, The Pink Drive, Durban South Service Centre, Mandela Youth Centre and numerous free wellness clinics in and around Merebank,” Andrews stated.

She commended the students for their perseverance and dedication, acknowledging their determination to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals despite numerous challenges.

Andrews also highlighted the diversity among the graduates, who spanned all races and age groups. The youngest graduate was 19, and the oldest was 68, reflecting the academy’s inclusive approach to education and professional development. “It was an absolute honour to be a part of their journey,” she said.

The ceremony was a heartfelt celebration of the students’ accomplishments and their readiness to embark on successful careers in healthcare. Andrews concluded by wishing the graduates much success in their future endeavours.
