Heidi Geyser, the association’s treasurer, shared her mixed feelings regarding the turnout but emphasised the positive atmosphere that the enthusiastic attendees created. “Although we were hoping for more participants, those who came brought a wonderful sense of love, laughter and joy, enjoying the prizes, gifts and delicious wors rolls, which satisfied their hunger,” she said.
Geyser added that the funds raised from the event would be used to complete the entrance improvements at the Montclair Recreation Hall. The association has already made significant upgrades, such as retiling the bathrooms and entranceway; repainting; and installing new toilet-roll holders and soap dispensers. “We plan to add an artistic touch to the entrance to create a warm and welcoming space for the community,” she explained.
During the event, the Montwood Ratepayers’ Association also introduced their newly elected committee members. The team includes Brett Jennings as chairman, Jabulisile Mtolo as secretary, Heidi Geyser as treasurer and vice-chairperson, and committee members Ayanda Njapha, Eric Mtolo, Wendy Ludlow and Mike Wellbeloved.
The association is excited about hosting more community events in the future and remains committed to enhancing the Montclair Recreation Hall as a vibrant hub for local residents.
