Two people wounded in shooting incident in Merebank

Two men have been shot at a local garage station In Merebank. One of the men in his 60s is believed to be in a critical condition.

TWO people sustained gunshot wounds following a shooting incident by Punjab Circle in Merebank this afternoon (March 6).

Garrith Jamieson, ALS Paramedics spokesperson, said that just after 17:00 ALS Paramedics attended to a shooting incident at a local garage.

He said a male believed to be in his 60s is in a critical condition and had to be stabilised on scene before being rushed to a local hospital for further immediate care. The second male who was shot is believed to be in his 30s. He was in a stable condition and was also stabilised before being transported to a local medical facility for further care. 

The area has been cordoned off by the Wentworth police and metro police. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear at this point, as the police continue their investigations.
