Road carnage: Multiple-vehicle collision claims two lives on the N2 Northbound

Some of the passengers, including children, were ejected from the moving vehicles while others remained trapped inside their cars.

PARAMEDICS and other emergency services had their hands full over the weekend following a multiple-vehicle collision on the N2 Northbound. The accident happened near NPC cement factory just before the M7 offramp on Sunday afternoon (April 6).

According to a report from paramedics, two people died and several others were treated for injuries after four cars lost control on the road and rolled numerous times, causing some of the passengers, including children, to be ejected from the moving cars.

Spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, Garrith Jamieson, said a six-year-old boy who was among the passengers in critical condition, was rushed to hospital where he died on arrival. Another passenger, a man in his late 50s who sustained serious injuries, died at the scene.

“Most of the patients, 10 in total, sustained serious to critical injuries and Advanced Life Support paramedics stabilised them at the scene,” said Jamieson.

A video circulating on social media shows passengers crawling out from the wreckage while other motorists tried to assist them.
