Just in: Elderly man dies in house fire on The Bluff

One elderly The bluff resident has died in a house fire this morning (August 11).

A MAN in his 60s died in a house fire on Dr Hoosen Haffajee Road on The Bluff this morning (August 11).

Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, said the incident occurred around 10:00.

“ALS Paramedics responded to the fire to find the eThekweni Fire Department already in attendance battling the blaze. Once the fire had been extinguished the fire department made their way into the premises and made the fatal discovery,” he said.

Jamieson added that the man had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene. The scene was cornered off and handed over to Brighton Beach Police Station.

The events leading up to the fire are being investigated by the police and fire department.

The fire department, Brighton Beach Victim Friendly Unit, and other emergency units responded to the scene.
