Chinese company donates R200 000 to Clairwood school

The donation is expected to go a long way in helping to bring the latest multimedia technology to learners at Clairwood.

A CHINESE company, JINA Trade, donated R200 000 to Clairwood Secondary School at the Moon Festival Gala at Suncoast in Durban recently.

The event, co-hosted by the world class Confucius Institute at the Durban University of Technology and the South African KZN Chinese Fujian Association, transformed the night into a breathtaking expression of shared humanity.

School principal Nicholas Latha expressed his thanks and appreciation on behalf of the school’s school governing body, staff, learners and parents.

“Our learners come from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. This donation will greatly help our school to bring the latest multimedia technology to our learners,” said Latha.

He added that the school had a successful relationship with the director of the Confucius Institute at Durban University of Technology (DUT), Lin Wu. The contribution will fund a state-of-the-art multimedia classroom, enhancing access to digital learning and cultural education for learners.

CEO of JINA Trade, Steven Cai, shared the motivation behind the donation.

“Youth development is the key. We should always consider supporting the development of our local community. It is our responsibility and our privilege to invest in the future of South Africa. 

“The performance by the Beijing Dance Academy concluded with an atmosphere of joy and reflection and a reminder that through culture and collaboration, bridges between nations are built not only with words but with shared experiences, which illuminate the human spirit,” said Cai.
