Teens and young adults seek festive season jobs

During the festive season many teenagers seek jobs to earn extra income for holiday spending or school expenses.

WITH the festive season in full swing, many teenagers and young adults are looking for ways to earn extra cash while gaining work experience.

However, safety and legitimacy should be considered, and ensure that children are not recruited to work under hazardous conditions.

Under section Section 44 and section 45 of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, 1997 (called the BCEA regulations), Labour Minister Nomakhosazana Meth made regulations on the health and safety of children at work and on hazardous work done by children.

Beyond traditional retail roles, you can explore seasonal merchandising opportunities. This involves setting up and maintaining displays, arranging products, and ensuring the store looks inviting.

It’s a great way to learn about visual merchandising and attention to detail.
