Here are some activities you can enjoy with the entire family during the festive season:
1. Indoor scavenger hunt
Make a list of household items or random specific things like a blue crayon or a yellow sock. Nothing beats some family-friendly competition.
2. Have an indoor picnic
Clear a space in the lounge, lay out a blanket, set out some sandwiches and sweet treats and have a cozy picnic while listening to the rain outside.
3. Get creative with DIY art projects
Rainy days are the perfect time for getting creative. Children can paint, draw, mould clay characters or make some crafts out of items in the house. For the older children, you can test their limits and have drawing competitions with different themes.
4. Play some board games
Bring out the classic board games like Monopoly, Uno and Twister and get some friendly competition going.
5. Bake or cook up a storm
Put those aprons on and let your children help you bake or cook whatever your heart desires. From cookies to cupcakes or even make your own pizzas from scratch.
6. Indoor camping
Set up a tent, build a fort or make a den with blankets and fairy lights. Add snacks and a movie or maybe even marshmallows over a candle for a true indoor camping experience.
7. Puzzle time
Put a massive puzzle out on the dining table for everyone to contribute to throughout the day. It’s calming, engaging and perfect for all ages.
8. Makeover moments
Enjoy mini spa sessions, hairstyles, nail painting or creative makeup looks. Families can take it up a notch and have their own fashion shoots and runways.
9. Reading and storytelling
Curl up with a good book, or let the children select their favourites. Children can take turns reading aloud, or you can make up creative stories together.
10. Have a classic movie marathon
Nothing beats snuggling under a blanket with hot chocolate and popcorn and having a movie marathon on a rainy day.
Rainy days do not mean it’s all doom and gloom; with this list you are sure to make the most out of your rainy days.
