Durban South residents warned of strong winds
The public is urged to be cautious when travelling and at their homes as a Level one warning for strong winds has been issued.
THE eThekwini Municipality is urging residents to express caution as the South African Weather Services issued a Level 1 weather warning for strong and potentially damaging winds from today (April 28) to tomorrow evening (April 29).

The municipality said a combination of a cold front and a strong ridging high‑pressure system is expected to result in wave heights of between 4 and 5 metres along the KwaZulu‑Natal coastline.
What to expect?
- Difficult navigation at sea.
- Temporary disruption at small harbours and ports.
- Localised damage to coastal infrastructure.
- Disrupted beach activities, while small vessels are particularly vulnerable and may be at risk of taking on water or capsizing in certain areas.
Express caution
- Avoid unnecessary activities at sea and along the coastline during this period.
- Beachgoers, anglers, surfers and recreational water users are advised to remain vigilant and to follow all safety guidance issued by authorities.
- Operators of small boats are urged to delay launching until conditions improve.

The emergency services teams are on high alert and monitoring the situation closely. The municipality calls on all residents to take heed of the warning and act responsibly to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
