Wentworth police rally religious leaders against crime

Wentworth police encouraged theologians to join police in the fight against crime through spiritual intervention.

STATION commander of the Wentworth police station, Colonel Sinayo Mtshali, has called on all religious leaders to join the police in the fight against crime.

This emerged at a recent meeting between the management of the Wentworth SAPS and theologians from Wentworth and Merebank at the Gardenia Primary School.

Wentworth police encouraged theologians to join police in the fight against crime through spiritual intervention.

The SAPS Spiritual Crime Prevention Forum has a focused approach in addressing root causes of crime.

Vispol commander Lieteunant Colonel Cherly Pillay said the Wentworth police launched a spiritual crime prevention forum.

“Pastor Donny Anderson was elected as the Chairperson of the forum with Bishop Takalani Mufamadi as his deputy. The electoral officer Moulana Tariq Mohamed enlightened the theologians of their role and purpose in the forum,” said Pillay.

Constable Bridgette Enicker together with Pillay empowered, equipped and educated all present of the legal framework of the police spiritual crime prevention forum.

“Mtshali congratulated the executive committee on their appointments. She thanked all for their commitment and dedication to changing the trajectory of the Wentworth policing precinct. Police together with theologians aim to foster closer working relationships through collaboration and collective responsibility, thus creating safer spaces for all people,” Pillay added.
