Montclair CPF confirms enhanced security plans
The CPF said it had been informed by the police management that detailed operational plans had been developed.
THE Montclair Community Police Forum (CPF) has confirmed that comprehensive security measures have been put in place ahead of a planned march on June 30 and related activities expected to take place in the area.
The CPF said it had been informed by the police management that detailed operational plans had been developed.
This is to ensure the safety and security of residents before, during and after the planned activities.
The police, together with the eThekwini Metro Police and other law enforcement agencies, will deploy resources to maintain law and order, protect residents and respond to any incidents that may arise.
The CPF said the deployment forms part of a co-ordinated effort between law enforcement agencies and community structures to ensure that public safety remains a priority.
CPF chairperson Pastor Desmond James said the CPF has engaged with:
- Local security companies.
- Ward 64 councillor Norman Gilbert.
- Community stakeholders to strengthen communication and improve the flow of information.
These engagements are aimed at ensuring that reports received from different sources are verified before being shared with the public.
“The CPF remains in ongoing communication with the police, metro police, local security companies, the ward councillor and relevant stakeholders and will continue to provide updates where necessary,” said James.
He encouraged community members to remain calm and continue with their daily activities while law enforcement agencies carry out their duties.
Residents are urged to avoid circulating unverified information, particularly through social media platforms, as this could contribute to confusion and unnecessary alarm within the community.

The CPF said community co-operation would be essential in supporting efforts to maintain peace and stability during the planned march and associated activities.
“Community leaders and residents are encouraged to remain calm, continue with their normal daily activities, and refrain from sharing unverified information that may cause unnecessary concern or alarm,” said James.
James thanked residents for their co-operation and commitment towards maintaining public safety.
The CPF said it would continue working with the police, metro police, private security companies and other stakeholders to monitor developments and provide information to the community when required.
The planned security arrangements come as law enforcement agencies emphasise the importance of collaboration between police, community structures and residents in preventing crime and ensuring safe public gatherings.
According to the CPF, authorities have not indicated any specific threats linked to the planned march on June 30.
