The formal dinner saw Human officially assume leadership of the club. This transition continues a long-standing tradition of service by the Durban South Lions, who work tirelessly to help and uplift the Durban South communities.

Human said she was humbled by the honour and the responsibility of her new role. “It is a privilege to serve as the 60th president of the Durban South Lions Club, becoming part of a proud legacy built on decades of service and compassion. I accept this role with gratitude, recognising the trust that has been placed in me and the responsibility that comes with leading a club so deeply committed to serving our community,” she said.

Looking to the future

Her vision for the upcoming year is framed by the theme “Passion, purpose and encouraging unity”. Human intends to strengthen relationships within the club and foster broader partnerships across Yellowwood Park, Montclair, Mobeni, Jacobs and the greater The Bluff area.

“An important focus will be on engaging our local industrial and business sectors, because meaningful community service can only be achieved through a collective approach. Equally important is growing our membership. Every new Lion brings fresh ideas, new skills and greater capacity to serve, enabling us to make an even bigger and more lasting impact in the communities we proudly call home,” she said.

Joining the community

Human expressed her appreciation to Lions Clubs International, an organisation with around 1.4 million members globally, and to the Durban South Lions members for their confidence in her leadership.

“Together, we are ordinary people united by a shared passion to achieve extraordinary things for our communities. I look forward not only to leading our club but, more importantly, to working alongside our members, our partners and our community as we continue making a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of others,” she said.

Human invites those interested in volunteering or joining the Durban South Lions Club to contact the organisation via email at general@durbansouthlions.co.za or by contacting Lion president Christa Human on 078 379 1346.
