One killed, two injured in Wentworth shooting incident

Police in Wentworth are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder following a shooting in Tuin Road.

ONE person was shot dead and two others sustained injuries after three men fired shots towards them on Tuin Road, Wentworth recently.

Police spokesperson in Wentworth, Captain Mbuso Gumede, said members of the Wentworth Vispol were on duty when they received information about a shooting in progress.

“Upon arrival at the flats, an individual alleged that while seated outside his flat he saw three men approaching. He reported that the three men then opened fire at the deceased and his friends, resulting in one friend being fatally wounded,” said Gumede.

The police report indicated that the other friends sustained gunshot wounds.

“The deceased was taken to a government mortuary. The two injured individuals were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

“The suspects are unknown at this stage; an investigation is being conducted by Wentworth detectives,” said Gumede.

Police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.
