Emergency teams on high alert for Level 6 weather warning
While residents are enjoying the sun today, they should keep their raincoats nearby as cool temperatures are set for the rest of the week.
THE hot temperatures are set to subside as the South African Weather Service has issued a Level 6 disruptive rain warning for Thursday and Friday (September 17 and 18).
eThekwini Municipality have taken precautionary measures and placed fire and emergency teams on standby. The warning is active from 00:00 on September 17 to 23:59 on September 18.

The news also comes a day after the Durban South area was rocked with localised flooding and a hail storm.

- Beachgoers, anglers, surfers and recreational water users are advised to remain vigilant and to follow all safety guidance issued by authorities.
- Operators of small boats are urged to delay launching until conditions improve.
Precautionary safety measures:
- Avoid affected routes: Do not attempt to drive through flooded sections of the N3 or any low-lying roads. Seek safe, alternative routes.
- Drive with extreme caution: Motorists must reduce speed, switch on headlights, and maintain safe following distances on wet and waterlogged surfaces.
- Stay clear of waterways: The public are strictly advised not to cross swollen rivers, streams, or overflowing stormwater channels, on foot or in vehicles.
- Limit travel: Where possible, residents are encouraged to stay indoors until conditions stabilise.
