Wife blames gang wars for Wentworth shooting death

A man and his friend were shot dead in the early hours of Friday morning while sitting outside his house.

THE wife of one of the two men killed in a shooting in Hime Street in Wentworth on Friday (October 9) has linked her husband’s death to the violence in the area.

Jacqueline Kock (42) said she believes her husband, Jamaine Kock (45), was killed by gangsters who continue to target innocent people in Wentworth.

Jamaine and his friend were shot dead in the early hours of Friday morning while sitting outside his house.

“My husband and his friend were outside smoking when unknown people approached them and opened fire on them. I strongly believe that the people who killed them are the gangsters who continue to kill innocent people in our area. Many people have been killed in Wentworth, but the police are not making any arrests. Some of the suspects who are arrested get released from jail,” she said.

She described Jamaine as a loving man who was always willing to help others.

“He was a panel beater and his death will leave a huge void in our family. I do not think his death is linked to the panel-beating business,” she added.

Jamaine leaves behind his wife, two children, his parents and relatives. Jacqueline added that funeral arrangements had not been finalised.

Police spokesperson in Wentworth Captain Mbuso Gumede said the police are investigating two murder cases.
