Wentworth man appears in court for possession of drugs
The suspect was arrested while attempting to flee from the police. He was granted R2 000 bail at the Wentworth Magistrate's Court.
A 24-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for possession of drugs in Olive Grove in Wentworth recently. The members of Vispol Wentworth Crime Prevention were acting on information received about a suspect in possession of drugs.
Police spokesperson in Wentworth, Captain Mbuso Gumede, said the members proceeded to the flats where they spotted two men.
“One of the men fled by jumping over a fence. Our members pursued him on foot. While attempting to jump another fence with the police in pursuit, the police apprehended him,” said Gumede.

Upon searching the suspect, police found a plastic packet in his jeans pocket, which contained cash and 36 brownish tablets suspected to be Mandrax.

“The suspect was arrested, brought to the station where he was charged for dealing and possession of drugs.”
He appeared at the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on November 17 and was granted R2000 bail. He will appear in court again soon.
