Burglar caught hiding in ceiling of business on The Bluff

The suspect was found hiding in the ceiling when the officers arrived at the business premises on The Bluff.

A MAN who broke into a business through the roof on December 16 on The Bluff was apprehended during a joint operation between the police, private security companies and Bluff Community Police Forum (CPF).

Tony Lokker of ET Rapid Response said the suspect was found inside the property hiding in the ceiling when the officers arrived.

The suspects had an axe which he allegedly used to break a hole in the roof in an attempt to escape.

Lokker said, “Our 24-hour ET Control Centre received an alarm activation from a business premises on Tara Road, and immediately dispatched ET armed response officers to the scene.

“Upon arrival, officers observed clear signs of forced entry, including a gate that had been forced open and a hole in the ceiling of the premises. Back-up was immediately requested, and members from Brighton Beach police, Wentworth police, and the Bluff CPF promptly responded,” said Lokker.

A co-ordinated search of the building was conducted, resulting in the successful apprehension of the suspect who was found inside the premises.
