A vehicle stolen from the Merewent area was recovered within 24 minutes of being stolen by a security company.

A vehicle stolen from Merewent on July 6 was recovered less than half an hour after it was reported missing. The quick recovery was a result of a joint effort between Blue Security, Tracker South Africa and the Wentworth police station.

The initial report came around 07:00, when an alert from a client in the Merewent area reported their vehicle was stolen from their home.

Blue Security’s Tactical Command immediately sent out the details of the theft to their response teams. Meanwhile, the vehicle’s owner provided tracking information, which indicated the vehicle’s last known location was in the Folweni area. The tracking team detected that the vehicle’s battery had been disconnected.

The security officers responded promptly and began a thorough search of the area and by 07:26 the vehicle was found. However, the suspects had removed the vehicle’s original licence plates and replaced it with fake ones.

The area was secured, and the recovered vehicle was handed over to the police for further investigation.
